AgTech Expo Set on March 9th and 10th

Article by: Hari Yellina

Farmers interested in investing in agtech will have lots of opportunities to learn about the possibilities available at AgSmart next week. The Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre will host the two-day expo on March 9 and 10. “Farmers may experience firsthand what AgSmart 2022 is all about: linking a potential buyer to an agtech product. “It’s the best platform for folks to look at every feature, benefit, and time-saving option.” “We’re excited to bring agtech businesses together in one location and provide farmers the opportunity to learn about these advancements during our seminar sessions,” Ms Nugent said.

Tech talk: Equipping farmers for the future will be one of the main seminar topics. The panel will address how the agtech sector is evolving and what role it will play in defining the future of agriculture. Case IH ANZ Advanced Farming System product manager Sean McColley, Pairtree Intelligence creator Hamish Munro, and an agribusiness representative will be on the panel. Melody Labinsky, national machinery and agtech reporter for ACM Agriculture, will moderate the discussion. Mr. McColley was hired by Case IH in January 2021 and is situated in Toowoomba, Queensland.

Prior to joining Case IH, he worked in precision agriculture for a Toowoomba-based machinery dealership and then spent nine years travelling the world with a cotton technology company, interacting with a wide range of international markets. Mr Munro started Pairtree in 2018 as a fifth generation farmer from central west NSW. Pairtree helps farmers manage their data and distribute it more effectively. Mr Munro stated, “I’ve worked on a cattle station in the Northern Territory, zero-till farming and EU production on our family farm, and representing the Australian beef sector at the Cattle Council of Australia and abroad.” “During these experiences I struggled with the ‘disconnect of data’. Through my network I started Pairtree to enable data to be connected and to overcome interoperability.” The session will kick off at 11am on Wednesday, with light refreshments to follow.
