Do I get paid leave?

Casual employees generally do not get paid annual leave or paid personal/carer’s leave. The extra amount in a casual hourly rate is casual loading — it is not leave loading.

Permanent employees accrue annual leave, personal/carer’s leave and other National Employment Standards entitlements as set out in the Fair Work Act and the applicable award.

All employees, including casuals, have a separate entitlement to 10 days of paid family and domestic violence leave each year under the National Employment Standards. Rules apply to when this leave can be taken and the notice or evidence required. See Fair Work’s family and domestic violence leave guidance.
